How can we help?

Jane Brown

Jane Brown

Jane was born and raised in Rivers, Manitoba. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Larry Brown, and have been married for 48 years. They have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. They currently live in Brandon.

Jane graduated Rivers High School and began a career at MPI. After being a stay at home mom while their children were small, Jane returned to the work force at Behlen Industries in 1983. She was employed with them for 26 years in various capacities starting in the office in the production department, then moving to accounting and then to IT.

Jane retired from WGI in 2009, the last year was spent documenting their entire manufacturing/accounting system in a help manual. She has also done the bookkeeping for their family business, HiWay Esso, since 1995.  They sold the Esso in 2021 so now have more time to volunteer and help out in the community.

Jane was on the board for Career Connections for 4 years and served on the Onanole and District Recreation Centre Board as the Treasurer. Jane has served as a Westoba Board member for 5 years. Jane is also on the board for Family Visions and serving as Treasurer.

Murray Blight From Family Visions

Murray Blight
Board Member

In 1999, I was asked to form an agency to facilitate adults who are mentally and physically challenged. In 2000, the voluntary committee formed Family Visions Inc. The agency initially provided respite to families, eventually providing twenty-four-hour client care.

During the past twenty years, I have been the Chairperson and the interim Executive Director on a few occasions with Family Visions. Today, I am a board member who enjoys fundraising for our ‘Special Friends’. Over the past thirty-five years, I have called upon businesses, organizations, community members, and friends to support our annual Monte Carlo Campaign.
